Volumes have been written on this item, and the bickering and squabbling about where the "hot" slots are located in the casino are still ongoing - sixty yrs after the slot machines were first placed in gambling dens.

The quintessential rule is that the more favourable slot machine games were put just inside the main entryway of the casino; so that casino fanatics going by would be able to see actual jackpot winners and be baited to come unto the gaming floor ... play. Our conviction is that this is no longer the case.

The majority of the major casinos today are humongous complexes ... you can no longer see inside from the sidewalk, so there's no longer a reason to situate the 'loose' slot machine games near to any entrances or exits.
